The MG 220 from Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems is a medium-volume recovery system used to separate valuable copper, aluminum and other useful metal components from discarded cables, automotive harnesses and electrical wiring. Recovery of reusable metal components for further use is not only profitable, but the process also has a positive impact on the environment by reducing the volume of materials targeted for the landfill.
As a strategic partner for Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, MG Recycling is a global leader in manufacturing equipment for recycling materials for reuse.
Recovery of Valuable Components
While the granulation process essentially involves just a few stages, the MG 220 is complex, yet easy to operate. Equipped with the new GR400 granulating system that yields higher production capability with less maintenance and a longer life, the MG 220 accepts a wide variety of cable and wiring. Once loaded, the equipment then granulates using a patented process and separates the valuable copper or aluminum granules from the plastic or other harness materials by means of a continual air flow. Blasts of air separate the materials by specific weight, so the valuable metal is channeled away from the other materials. At the end, the result is two bins of granules, one with 99.9% copper and the other filled with the granulated coating materials.
The MG 220 is equipped with a self-cleaning feature to eliminate the resulting industrial dust and reduce the amount of maintenance following each use.
Selecting the Right Granulating Equipment for Your Business
The MG 220 is capable of granulating and separating up to 1100 lbs. per hour of discarded materials.
It is important to select the right equipment. Each MG Model from the MG 150 to the MG Matrix Series 2000 has a different production capability and even some slightly different functions. Purchasing equipment with a throughput capacity that is too large may compromise profitability if your raw material supplies are limited. More importantly, trying to put too much material through a smaller granulator can result in machine overwork and additional maintenance.
Mid-Atlantic Waste Expertise
To determine if the MG 220 is the right equipment for your business, a Mid-Atlantic expert will help you to evaluate your parameters. Such elements as types of raw material, plant space, labor and availability of discarded wire and cable materials are considerations in determining the best solution for your equipment and accessories.
And once you have chosen the MG 220, a Mid-Atlantic expert will ensure the installation and training are accomplished properly to achieve a long and profitable machine life.
A Turbo unit may be included in the MG 220 package. This addition allows for the separation of finer, capillary-sized wires
Also if your waste wire or cable material is notably diverse in density or type, a Tritronic 800 Series Pre-Shredder is recommended. This equipment, matched with the appropriate conveyor, splits inbound cables to allow for easier granulation by the MG 220. This stage lessens the burden on the MG 220 and reduces the maintenance required.
